Useful tool for self-assessment of quality, structure and recyclability of packing materials

It is not easy for a producer obligated to recycle (POR) to do self-assessment of quality, structure and recyclability of packing materials because  the Ministry of Environment Notification, PACKING MATERIAL RECYCLABILITY RATING STANDARD ( 포장재 재활용 용이성 등급평가 기준 ) is complicated and quality, structure and recyclability of packing material’s body, label, cap, and other components shall be evaluated both separately and combinedly.   The online evaluation tool in the IEPR website ( https://www.iepr.or.kr/ctm/psse/packngEvlCalr/eprPackngEvlCalr.do# ) can be a great solution to resolve this difficulty. When you click the magnifier icon, a new window pops up. There, you can choose the PACKING MATERIAL RECYCLABILITY RATING STANDARD that is currently effective and the type of packaging material you’re going to evaluate.   For example, in evaluating EPE buffer, you can choose 05 single/composite general expanded synthetic resin material.
